  • BUNK BED MATTRESSES

The mattress is undoubtedly crucial to the success and comfort of any bed, this is even more so in the case of bunk beds, Most platform beds and bunk beds are constructed with wooden slats to support the mattress. As bunk bed mattresses do not have the benefit of a box spring to support them like normal beds it is critical for the bunk bed mattress to be fit for the purpose.

Generally speaking you would be looking to invest in a high quality sprung mattress to offer extra support required by the lack of box spring, however in recent years memory foam bunk bed mattresses have become popular. despite being very expensive they seem to get great reviews, I have never tried one myself so cannot truthfully offer an opinion, my advice would be that if you do not have the money to spend on such luxury then getting a good quality mattress will be every bit as good and you can always buy a memory foam mattress topper if you want.

Whether its bunk beds, a loft bed or any other type of slatted bed quality will be important in your mattress choices, a poor quality mattress will lack support for your spine and will have you seeing your doctor about a bad back before you know it, we spend about a third of our lives in bed, I for one think that means it is important to be comfortable and getting a supportive mattress is way up there on the list of comfort provision.

The fattest mattress is not necessarily the most supportive but always test a mattress if possible before purchase, if you are buying online, read the description and look for the mattress being sprung or pocket sprung which means they should offer a suitable level of support, steer clear of cheap foam mattresses for bunk beds if you can or if you value your spine.
